Job Title: News Director
Reports To: General Manager
Job Responsibilities:  KHAS TV, NBC Affiliate Hastings, NE is seeking an experienced, hands-on, News Director with strong leadership skills and a complete understanding of broadcast news.  The News Director is responsible for managing KHAS TV’s news operations, setting budgets, establishing goals and directing the staff for the news operation. Candidate must be able to create and execute a winning product across multi platforms. Ideal candidate must be a lead by example manager with a passion for news and a drive to succeed. This individual will work closely with station management to establish news content, philosophy and direction as well as recruiting, hiring and negotiating contracts for news personnel. The News Director will review daily newscasts to ensure quality and provide constructive feedback to all news staff. This individual will also collaborate with other managers to develop marketing plans, establish and reach ratings goals.

Qualifications:

• A Journalism degree and a minimum of two years in news management preferred.
  
• Strong fiscal experience with operational and capital expenditures.
  
• Demonstrated success in building a winning news organization.
  
• Must have a working knowledge of journalistic ethics, labor and employment laws and applicable FCC rules and regulations

Job Title: Chief Engineer
Reports To: General Manager
Job Responsibilities:  This is a technical position with minimal management responsibilities. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all FCC rules and regulations, operation and maintenance of technical facilities and for ensuring the broadcast plant is technically sound and in good working order. Two years in operational broadcast television and maintenance and repair of electronic equipment experience required. Strong knowledge and experience with computers and emerging technologies preferred as well as a comprehensive understanding of all broadcast equipment technology, microwave and analog
equipment. Bench work proficient, repairs, maintenance. Assist with planning, purchasing equipment. Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required. This person must be organized and work well with others.
